The Educational Trust Foundation was set up in 2003 with the goal to creating favourable conditions for the realization of the best school-based education programmes. Its founders were Moscow School 45 staff (four people) and parents (four people), business community representatives, and an organizational development consultant.
The Foundation’s first phase mostly involved the participants’ contributions to the development of School 45 as an educational institution. For example, such programmes were implemented as “Learning environment” (maintenance and development of the educational material base), interscholastic exchanges, multimedia, support for children from socially vulnerable families, “Treasure Island, «Publishing programmes”, “International Baccalaureate”, and “English language Olympics”. At this stage of development, the School of Art and Language School passed into the high school and became part of its structure.
In 2005, the Foundation was "narrowly" in the framework of a single educational institution.
The Foundation began to render assistance to other schools in implementing their educational programs, including outside of Moscow.
The Foundation creates "daughter" structures, engages in (in cooperation with other organizations) the professional development of teachers, the development and adaptation of advanced educational technologies, and publication of educational materials for various educational programmes.
The Foundation conducts professional and student contests and Olympiads to draw out potential educational personnel for Foundation school-partners, and the most talented pupils capable of participating in such programs as "International Baccalaureate".
The Foundation engages in research in the field of modern education and prepares expert proposals for projects at various levels from municipal to federal.
In the capacity of a special project, the Foundation implements the International Baccalaureate programme.
In 2006-2011, the Foundation focused on support for specific projects, such as:
• annual independent English-language Olympics for ninth graders of Moscow and Moscow region schools (2007-2011)
• publishing projects (school newspapers and magazines, collections of scientific and design work of students and teachers, financing the publication of special issues of the journal "National Project Education ")

• reimbursement of expenses for implementation of programmes of the International Baccalaureate (Moscow School 45)
